You may have heard of the cancellation of the Andover Family Fireworks Display for 2009.  Hopefully, if this is the case, you will also have heard that talk of the demise of this important community event were a little premature.

Nigel Baxendale, the Chairman of Andover Round Table, was interviewed on Andover Sound on Monday 13th July.  You can access Andover Sound's website and listen to a recording of the interview by following the link below.

Andover Round Table do need the support of the local community and the businesses and other partners that work within the Andover area, if the 2009 event is to proceed.  However, the members of the club are committed to running a successful event this year.

Nigel has confirmed that, for him and the rest of the club, the Fireworks is an important part of the Andover calendar.  "It does serve (weather permitting) to help raise funds for worthwhile local causes, but it is also a community event.  The running of such events is important for the Andover area, especially when things like the economic climate are dampening spirits.  I hope that this event will continue well into the future."

If you can help Andover Round Table in ensuring that the 2009 Fireworks Night happens, please do let us know.  We are particularly keen to hear from potential sponsors or advertisers.  You can contact Nigel via e-mail: nigel@andoverroundtable.org.uk.
