Santa's Sleigh Collection 2009

Santa will be taking time out from supervising his little helpers this December to help local people in greatest need, with the able assistance of Ongar Round Table and Ladies Circle.

Hopefully this won't affect his delivery times too much - there's lots of children and quite a few adults depending on him this year and those sacks seem to be getting heavier and heavier !

He's going to fly all the way from his North Pole home to Ongar to help Ongar Round Table collect money for a local good cause.  As always, Santa will have his reindeers with him and his sleigh will be wired for sound !

If they're lucky, young children might catch a glimpse of Santa while he does his rounds and if they're really lucky he might call at their house and say hello - ho - ho !

We will try to start early so that the collection can be finished before it gets too late for young ones to see Santa  - and so that your evenings TV entertainment isn't drowned out by Santa's singing sleigh !

Here is Santa's Super Sleigh Schedule, so find your road and put the date in your diary.

Santa will also be putting in an appearance at Christmas Capers in Ongar High Street on the 4th December 2009, firstly in his grotto and then for a trip down the High Street to help turn on the lights - perhaps with an escapade at the fire station to add further excitement to an already eventful evening !

We are very grateful to the following local retailers who have helped rescue the sleigh collection scheme after Sainsbury's, who had provided great support in past years, were unable to redeem our Round Table Christmas vouchers;

Ongar Fireworks Spectacular

Ongar's night sky was once again lit up by sensational starbursts and rocked by big, big bangs on Friday the 6th November 2009 in a Guy Fawkes celebration at Chipping Ongar Primary School in Greensted Road.

Despite the weather, it was a magnificent display once again, with many compliments being received from people amazed that we can arrange such a superb and lengthy display at such a modest price and raise money for local charities as well.

Many thanks to all those who braved the torrential rain to watch the display, buy hot mulled wine, hot food and glow sticks.  Charity proceeds were inevitably down compared to past years when it has been dry, but it most definitely wasn't a washout!

Many thanks are due to our kind sponsor John Sear Estate Agents.

The next fireworks display will be on Friday the 5th November 2010.

Carnival 2009

The sun shone, the bands played, the batons twirled and the children waved. Everyone had a great time so we're looking forward to next year's event on Sunday the 27th June 2010. Our sincere thanks to the following organisations who kindly sponsored the Ongar Carnival 2009;

Battelle UK Ltd

Mulberry Retreat & Leisure Ltd

Capital Flowers
