Archery will be available (on campus) on the Friday, and White Water Rafting* is also available on the Friday at Holme Pierrpont. These events will not be 'competitive' sports as such, but prizes may be awarded for the most impressive sharp shooting/rafting of the day!

*Extra charge applies. Click here for details.

In addition to rules for individual sports, the NSW general rules will apply in all cases.

The competition will be a doubles event with each Area entering one team.

Tug of War (more) The competition will be run subject to the rules laid down by the Tug-of-War Association and be on a straight knockout basis. Areas can enter only one Team, which shall consist of eight members and a Coach.

Football (5-a-side)

One Team per Area. Squads to consist of up to seven players, five players per team to commence each game. The remaining two players will be classed as substitutes, any of who may be used during the course of the game as “rolling subs”.

Indoor Cricket (more)

Each Area will enter a team of eight. Each innings will last 16 overs, this means each and every fielder bowls 2 overs, and each pair of batsman faces 4 overs. Therefore every player bowls 2 over, and every player bats 4 overs.

Athletics

There will be three events to the Athletics Competition - 100 metres sprint, 400 metres and Shot Putt. Each Area must enter a competitor in each event to score entry points and be eligible to score points in the overall competition. A Team is therefore three people.

GENERAL RULES AND SCORING

Eligibility

All scoring competitors must be full members, honorary members or genuine prospective new members of Table at the date of the National Sporting Weekend competition. Random checks will be made on competitors.

It will be considered extremely bad sportsmanship if anyone is found in a scoring position and not a member of Table, honorary or genuine prospective new member with immediate intent to join.

Scoring

An Area, which enters a full team for a sport and which then participates in that sport, will be awarded four points – regardless of final placing. Further points will be awarded in each sport in 16 areas - 1st in each sport = 16 points, 2nd = 15 points, down to 16th = 1 point. Thus, a maximum of 20 points can be won for each sport. Areas have to register a full Team and appear with that Team at the beginning of the sport to get the minimum four points.

For Golf and Cross Country, the Area placing will be determined by aggregating the positions of the eligible team members, i.e. 2nd and 15th = 17th. Each Area MUST enter full Teams: for Golf, a Team is at least two players and Cross Country, a Team is up to four runners, with three scoring. For both these events, it is the lowest aggregate score that determines the final placing. To decide the placings, including losing quarter and semi-finalists, games and/or points conceded will be taken into consideration.

Disputes

The Event Convenors decision will act as referee and settle disputes that may arise. Mitch Robinson, NSW 2008 Sports Convenor, will perform final arbitration.

Registration

Registration for each event held at each individual sporting venue and will open a minimum of 30 minutes prior to the commencement of the Sport. The full Team members must attend registration with their NSW Pass. Any person not producing their Pass will not be allowed to compete. Competitors cannot be registered to play in a competition in their absence.

General

Time schedules must be adhered to and those Areas unable to find their Team at the stated time will forfeit their match. All Sports will be completed on Saturday. The Convenors reserve the right to alter the rules of any event and the format on the day. Detailed rules and the event format have been on our website and will be available at the Sports Registration Area. Participants are advised to ensure that they have read them prior to starting the competition.

As far as possible, the rules of the National Association/Organisation of the sport will be adopted.

A result sheet will be published.
