For those from outside the area, Stokesley is a small market town situated in North East England just North of the North Yorkshire Moors.
Stokesley & District Round Table 1127 is a relatively new Table, being founded in 1974 as a spin-off from the neighbouring Guisborough Round Table. The 1127 refers to the fact that we were the 1127th Table to be chartered in Great Britain & Ireland, the 1st being Norwich in 1927.
Our catchment area is Stokesley, the surrounding villages and the greater Middlesbrough area. The character of Stokesley Round Table is informal, but serious when it matters.
Round Table is made up of individual Tables who are then organised into a geographical area, in our case Area 10 which is for Tables in North Yorkshire and South Durham. Then there are National and International events. We take an active role in all sections; we host Area meetings and sporting events and recently provided two players to win a National football event. International Table events are something we are very proud to be part of, Stokesley & District is ‘twinned’ with four other European Round Tables. Many of our members have visited Norderstedt in Germany, Haaksbergen in The Netherlands, Gislaved in Sweden and Villeneuve sur Lot in France…. and we have the pictures elsewhere in this website to prove it!

Round Table is commonly thought to be all charity fund raising and business meetings. At Stokesley the aim is to have a good time and if that happens to raise awareness or funds for a good cause then so much the better. One of our big annual fundraisers is a BBQ held on an ex-Tabler’s farm – good food, inclusive drink, a live band and some serious money made for local causes. A newly introduced event is the ‘Chairman’s Challenge’. As part of this we recently completed a coast to coast cycle ride, gruelling but immense fun and, again, several thousand pounds raised for good causes.
